At 16, Sahej Kandhari founded Home Away, an initiative born from his personal journey and a deep-seated commitment to social good. His inspiration came from his own experience of moving from Dubai to boarding school, where he initially faced the challenges of adapting to a new environment and being away from home. For Sahej, it was through sports and community activities that he found his sense of belonging and comfort. This personal revelation became the cornerstone of Home Away's mission.
Sahej's dedication to this cause is also rooted in a decade of social work. Since the age of six, he has been volunteering with initiatives like YPO and Care to Share, helping to pack and distribute hampers to worker communities, particularly during Ramadan. These experiences gave him a profound understanding of the loneliness and isolation that come with being away from family and community.
Driven by this empathy, Sahej founded Home Away with a strong belief that inclusion, access to community, and empowerment through education and opportunity are the keys to building thriving communities. He created Home Away to provide migrant workers with the same sense of connection and support that helped him, using sports and community activities as a powerful tool to uplift and connect those who have left their homes for a better future.

Arin Taurani ,15, is an active student at Marlborough College in the UK. He enjoys all kinds of sports and believes in community engagement and giving back. He picked up his love for cricket during COVID while playing with family and friends at InSportz where HomeAway is held and believes in the power of sports in uplifting and bringing people together. The sense of fulfilment he derived from being apart of the Inaugural Home Away Festival inspired him to ensure that the impact carries on.
